NAC
New Zealand National Airways Corporation, known as NAC, was a government-owned domestic airline. Founded in 1947 with the merger of 40 Transport Squadron RNZAF, Union Airways Air Travel (NZ) Ltd, and several smaller operators. In 1978 NAC amalgamated with Air New Zealand.
Fokker F27 Friendship
The F27 Friendship is a twin-engined turboprop, medium-range regional airliner, also produced under license as the Fairchild F-27. It first flew on February 25, 1965, entering service in December with Delta Air Lines. In US military service, the type received the designation of C-9. Production ended in 1987 with 786 built, 581 Fokker F.27 and 205 Fairchild F-27/FH-227.
The flight crew consists of a pilot and copilot, and the passenger cabin typically seats 40 to 60 passengers, four abreast depending on variant and seating arrangement.
The F.27 uses two Rolls-Royce RB.53 Dart, two-stage centrifugal compressor turboprop engines mounted on each wing driving four-blade Dowty Rotol constant-speed propellers.
