Air New Zealand
Air New Zealand Limited, the flag carrier of New Zealand, was founded on April 26, 1940, as Tasman Empire Airways Limited (TEAL), renamed Air New Zealand in 1965 with the purchase of the airline by the New Zealand Government. A member of the Star Alliance, it operates domestic and international services.
Fokker F27 Friendship
The F27 Friendship is a twin-engined turboprop, medium-range regional airliner, also produced under license as the Fairchild F-27. It first flew on February 25, 1965, entering service in December with Delta Air Lines. In US military service, the type received the designation of C-9. Production ended in 1987 with 786 built, 581 Fokker F.27 and 205 Fairchild F-27/FH-227.
The flight crew consists of a pilot and copilot, and the passenger cabin typically seats 40 to 60 passengers, four abreast depending on variant and seating arrangement.
The F.27 uses two Rolls-Royce RB.53 Dart, two-stage centrifugal compressor turboprop engines mounted on each wing driving four-blade Dowty Rotol constant-speed propellers.
