Air India

Air India is India’s government-owned flag-carrying airline, operating domestically and internationally. Founded in 1932 by J. R. D. Tata as Tata Airlines. Post World War II, it became a public limited company, renamed Air India. The Indian Government acquired 49% of the airline after Indian independence in 1947, taking a majority holding in 1953.

Lockheed L-1011 TriStar

The L-1011 TriStar is an American medium—to long-range, wide-body trijet airliner that first flew on November 16, 1970, and entered service with Eastern Airlines in April 1972. The British Royal Air Force operated nine of these aircraft, designated as K.1, KC.1, and C.2.

Engine development issues and Rolls-Royce’s financial troubles delayed the TriStar’s entry into service by two years, allowing the McDonnell Douglas DC-10 to gain a competitive advantage. Production of the TriStar ended in 1984, with 250 airframes built.

The TriStar utilised advanced technology for its time, including becoming the first wide-body airliner certified for blind autoland.

The cabin crew consists of two pilots and a flight engineer, and depending on the variant, the passenger cabin can accommodate up to 300 passengers.

The aircraft is powered by three Rolls-Royce high-bypass axial-flow turbofan engines—one pylon mounted under each wing and the third located at the rear of the fuselage. Airflow is provided through an S-duct embedded in the tail and upper fuselage.

Warning: Choking Hazard! Not suitable for children under 14 years of age or individuals who tend to place inedible objects in their mouths. Adult collectable - designed for static display - Not a toy.
