Deutsche Lufthansa
Deutsche Lufthansa is the flag carrier and largest airline of Germany, founded on January 6, 1953, as Aktiengesellschaft für Luftverkehrsbedarf (Luftag). Acquired the name and logo of Deutsche Lufthansa on August 6, 1954, and commenced operations on April 1, 1955. The airline’s name comes from the German words Luft, meaning “air”, and Hansa for the Hanseatic League. Subsidiary airlines are Austrian Airlines, Swiss International Air Lines, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings, and Germanwings.
Boeing 707
The Boeing 707 is an American four turbofan engined, mid-size, medium to long-range narrow-bodied airliner. The production variant first flew on December 20, 1957, entering service on October 26, 1958, with Pan Am.
The B707 dominated passenger air transport in the 1960s and 1970s. Numerous air forces have used new or second-hand airframes for general transportation, aerial refuelling, electronic warfare and in the US as Air Force One. Saha Airlines of Iran ran the final scheduled passenger service in April 2013; the type remains in military service. Boeing built 1010 units of all commercial and military variants before the production of commercial variants ended in 1978 and the military in 1991.
The flight crew consists of two pilots, a flight engineer and when required, a navigator. The passenger cabin seats 141 in a typical 2-class configuration and a single class up to 219, depending on the variant. The 707-320C used four Pratt & Whitney JT3D turbofan engines; pylon mounted two under each wing.
