JFox JF-707-4-001P
JFox JF-707-4-001P replicates in 1/200 scale diecast the B707-458 (-58; Boeing customer code for El Al), a B707-420, registered D-ABOC in Lufthansa livery, circa 1990.
B707-458, MSN 18071 / 216
It was delivered to El Al in 1961 as 4X-ATB (targeted for terrorist hijacking in 1970) and then to Arkia until 1985. Returned to Boeing for conversion to a KC-135 but in 1987 donated to Lufthansa to commemorate the airline’s 200th Boeing delivery. Placed on public display at Tegel airport in Lufthansa colours with the fake registration “D-ABOC”. Circa 2000 moved to serve as a fire trainer. Left to dilapidate; it was scrapped in May 2021.
Boeing 707
The Boeing 707 is an American four turbofan engined, mid-size, medium to long-range narrow-bodied airliner. The production variant first flew on December 20, 1957, entering service on October 26, 1958, with Pan Am.
The B707 dominated passenger air transport in the 1960s and 1970s. Numerous air forces have used new or second-hand airframes for general transportation, aerial refuelling, electronic warfare and in the US as Air Force One. Saha Airlines of Iran ran the final scheduled passenger service in April 2013; the type remains in military service. Boeing built 1010 units of all commercial and military variants before the production of commercial variants ended in 1978 and the military in 1991.
The flight crew consists of two pilots, a flight engineer and when required, a navigator. The passenger cabin seats 141 in a typical 2-class configuration and a single class up to 219, depending on the variant. The 707-320C used four Pratt & Whitney JT3D turbofan engines; pylon mounted two under each wing.
