Air New Zealand
Air New Zealand (ANZ), the flag carrier of New Zealand, was founded on April 26, 1940, as Tasman Empire Airways Limited (TEAL), renamed Air New Zealand in 1965 with the purchase of the airline by the Government. A member of the Star Alliance, it operates domestic and international services.
Boeing 737-100/200/Advanced
The B737 is an American short to medium-range twin-engined, narrow-body airliner. The first flight (737-100) took place on April 9, 1967, entering service on February 10, 1968, with Lufthansa. Thirty-100s were built before production ceased in favour of the 737-200.
The maiden flight of the 737-200 occurred on August 8, 1967, with the first delivery on December 29, 1967, to United Airlines. Variants were the 737-200C (Combi) and 737-200QC (Quick Change). USAF designated them as the T-43 (navigation trainers) and CT-43 (passenger).
The -200 differs from the -100 with a 153 cm (60.2 in) longer fuselage, increased gross weight and range. In addition, the 737-200 Advanced had improved aerodynamics, more powerful engines, increased fuel capacity, gross weight and airframe components in graphite-epoxy composites.
The final 737-200 scheduled passenger service in the US occurred in 2008 with Aloha Airlines. One thousand one hundred fourteen airframes were completed before production ended in 1988.
The flight crew consists of two pilots and the passenger cabin typically seats 110 in two classes, up to 130 in a single class. It used two Pratt & Whitney JT8D low-bypass turbofans engines pylon mounted one under each wing.
