Inflight200 IF701PA0623P
Inflight200 IF701PA0623P replicates in 1/200 scale diecast the B707-121B (-21 Boeing customer code for Pan Am / Pan American-Grace Airways), named “Jet Clipper America”, registration N710PA in Pan American Airways (Pan Am) livery, circa 1960s.
Pan Am
Pan American World Airways, commonly known as Pan Am, was a prominent American international airline. Founded on March 14, 1927, by Carl A. Spaatz, Air Corps Majors Henry H. “Hap” Arnold and John H. Jouett. The airline used “Clipper” in all aircraft names and call signs. In June 1947, Pan Am became the first airline to provide scheduled around-the-world flights. Declare bankrupt, it ceased operations on December 4, 1991, with Delta Air Lines purchasing profitable assets.
Boeing 707
The Boeing 707 is an American four turbofan engined, mid-size, medium to long-range narrow-bodied airliner. The production variant first flew on December 20, 1957, entering service on October 26, 1958, with Pan Am.
The B707 dominated passenger air transport in the 1960s and 1970s. Numerous air forces have used new or second-hand airframes for general transportation, aerial refuelling, electronic warfare and in the US as Air Force One. Saha Airlines of Iran ran the final scheduled passenger service in April 2013; the type remains in military service. Boeing built 1010 units of all commercial and military variants before production of commercial variants ended in 1978 and military in 1991.
The flight crew consists of two pilots, a flight engineer and, when required, a navigator. The passenger cabin seats 141 in a typical 2-class configuration, and in a single class, up to 219 depending on variant. The 707-320C used four Pratt & Whitney JT3D turbofan engines, pylon mounted two under each wing.
