Airbus A330
The Airbus A330 is a medium- to long-range wide-body twin-engine jet airliner. Manufactured by the European aerospace company Airbus and developed in parallel with the A340. It first flew on November 2, 1992 (A330-300), entering service on January 17, 1994, with Air Inter. It is produced in three main variants, the A330-300, A330-200 (shortened fuselage, extended range), and A330-200F (freighter). In addition, the A330 MRTT multi-role transport, tanker, and ACJ330 corporate jet use the -200 airframe.
In 2014 Airbus launched the A330neo (New Engine Option), with larger Rolls-Royce Trent 7000 engines and aerodynamic improvements. Available in two versions, the A330-800 based on the -200 and the A330-900 on the -300.
The flight crew consists of two pilots. The passenger cabin typically seats between 246 and 440 passengers, six abreast in business class and eight in economy class, both twin isles depending on the model.
The A330 used two Rolls-Royce Trent 700 or General Electric CF6 or Pratt & Whitney PW4000 high-bypass turbofan engines pylon mounted, one under each wing.
