Air Berlin
Air Berlin was Germany’s second-largest airline, operating domestic and international services. Founded in 1978 as Air Berlin USA by Lelco, an American company, becoming a German company in 1991. After years of losses, the airline ceased operations in October 2017.
Fokker 100
The F28 Mark 0100 “Fokker 100” is a Dutch medium-sized, twin-jet regional airliner. It first flew on November 30, 1986, and entered service in February 1988 with Swissair. Production ended in 1997 with 283 airframes built. Based on the Fokker F28 Mark 4000, but bigger with increased maximum weights, fuel and passenger capacity. Other changes include a digital flight deck, updated avionics and more efficient engines and wings. Produced in several versions; an extended-range model, the shorter -70 (seating to 80), -100QC quick-change passenger/freighter and -100EJ (Executive Jet) that uses remanufactured airliners.
The flight crew consists of two pilots and typically seats 97 passengers in two classes, a maximum of 122. Airframe construction is all-metal, mainly aluminium alloy, powered by two Rolls-Royce Tay Mk 650-15 Turbofan engines mounted externally on each side of the fuselage rear.
