Jagdbombergeschwader 32 (Fighter-Bomber Wing 32; abbreviation: JaBoG 32) was a fighter-bomber wing of the Luftwaffe, established in 1957.
In 1984 it began conversion to Panavia Tornado IDS strike fighters, and in 1991, it re-equipped with Tornado ECR. The wing disbanded in March 2013.
Panavia Tornado
The Panavia Tornado is a European twin-engine, tandem-seat, variable-sweep wings multi-role combat aircraft. The maiden flight took place on August 14, 1974, with the first deliveries going to the RAF and Luftwaffe in June 1979.
It was developed and built by Panavia Aircraft GmbH, a consortium of British Aerospace, MBB of West Germany and Aeritalia of Italy. Turbo-Union, who created and produced the RB199 engine, is a joint venture between Rolls-Royce, MTU and FiatAvio. The three primary variants of the Tornado are the Interdictor/strike (IDS), Electronic Combat/Reconnaissance (ECR) and the Air Defence Variant (ADV) interceptor. Production ended in 1998 with 990 airframes built. The Tornado saw service in the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy and Saudi Arabia.
It uses two Turbo-Union RB199 after burning axial-flow turbofan engines. The armament consists of one cannon internally mounted under the starboard side of the fuselage (German ECRs do not carry a gun). Seven external hardpoints can carry 9,000 kg (19,800 lb) of stores.
