Hobby Master 1/72 Air Power Series HA38009 replicates in 1/72 scale diecast the F-16I Sufa, # 470. Of 253 Squadron “The Negev Squadron”, Israeli Air Force, “Kheil HaAvir” in Hebrew, during “Operation Outside the Box” 2007.
The F-16I Sufa is a variant of the two-seat Block 52 for the Israeli Defense Force. Approximately 50% of the avionics are Israeli-developed; other variations include an avionics dorsal spine compartment and removable conformal fuel tanks (CFT).
Operation Outside the Box
On September 6 2007, as part of Operation Outside the Box ( AKA: Operation Orchard), Israeli Air Force’s 253, 69 and 119 Squadrons, took part in a successful raid to destroy nuclear installations in Syria that had been constructed with North Korean help.
General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon
The F-16 Fighting Falcon is an American single-engine, single-seat all-weather multi-role jet fighter that first flew on December 8, 1976, entering service in January 1979.
Features of the F-16 include a frameless bubble canopy side-mounted control stick, an ejection seat reclined 30 degrees from vertical and the first use of a relaxed static stability/fly-by-wire flight control system. Block numbers designate upgrades. It serves 25 countries, produced in the USA, Netherlands, Belgium, Turkey, and Korea.
The F-16 uses a single General Electric F110 or Pratt & Whitney F100 after-burning turbofan axial flow jet engine mounted in the fuselage. The armament consists of one cannon. Eleven external hardpoints can carry up to 7,700 kg (17,000 lb) of stores.
General Dynamics aircraft became part of Lockheed in 1993, renamed Lockheed Martin in 1995 after a merger with Martin Marietta.
