Japan Airlines
Japan Airlines ( JAL), the flag carrier airline of Japan, operates international and domestic passenger and cargo services. The airline was established on August 1, 1951, as Japan Air Lines by the government of Japan, fully privatised in 1987. Subsidiary airlines are J-Air, Japan Air Commuter, Japan Transocean Air, Ryukyu Air Commuter and JAL Cargo.
Airbus A350 XWB
The A350 XWB (Xtra-Wide-Body) is a European family of long-range, twin-engine, wide-body jet airliners. The maiden flight occurred on June 14, 2013; the A350-900 entered service on January 15, 2015, with Qatar Airlines; the longer A350-1000 entered service on February 24, 2018, with the same airline.
The A350 airframe is the first by Airbus made primarily of carbon fibre composites; other materials include aluminium alloys, titanium and steel. The composite structure allows for higher cabin pressure and humidity with lower maintenance costs.
The flight crew consists of two pilots and the passenger cabin typically seats 315 (-900) and 369 (-1000) in two classes up to ten abreast. Powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent XWB high bypass axial-flow turbofan engines, pylon mounted one under each wing.
