Aviation72 AV7224005 replicates in 1/72 scale diecast the Westland Gazelle AH. 1 serial number XZ321 in the colour scheme used by No. 656 Sqn, 4 Regiment (4 Regt), Army Air Corps (AAC) British Army, during Operation Grandby (Operation Desert Storm).

Delivered To the Army Air Corpe in April 1977 and deployed to the Falklands during the war in May 1982 with No. 656 Squadron, AAC, where it remained until December 1983, moved to Northern Ireland in 1989. XZ321 (civil reg: G-CDNS) is being restored to flying condition in the desert colours of the 4 Regiment who supported the Desert Rats in the first Gulf War as part of the Gazelle Squadron display team.
Aérospatiale Gazelle
The Aérospatiale Gazelle is a French five-seat helicopter commonly used for light transport, scouting and light attack duties. It first flew on April 7, 1967, entering service in 1973.
Westland Aircraft manufactured them under licence in the United Kingdom, SOKO in Yugoslavia and the Arab British Helicopter Company (ABHCO) in Egypt. Production ended in 1996, with 1,775 airframes built.
It used a single Turbomeca Astazou turbine engine and was the first helicopter to feature a fenestron tail. In the attack role, it can carry two machine guns, rocket pods and missiles.
