Corgi AA36016 Aviation Archive
Corgi Aviation Archive series AA36016 replicates in 1/72 scale diecast the BAe Hawk T.1, serial number XX154, the first prototype, in the Empire Test Pilot’s School ( ETPS) scheme, stationed at Boscombe Down, Wiltshire, England, circa 2018. the aircraft is now part of the Boscombe Down Aviation Collection.
Empire Test Pilots’ School
The Empire Test Pilots’ School (ETPS), established in 1943, is a British training school for test pilots and flight test engineers of fixed and rotary-winged aircraft. Based at Boscombe Down in Wiltshire, England, it is run by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) and contractor QinetiQ.
BAe Systems Hawk
The BAe Systems Hawk is a British two-seat, single-engine, jet-powered advanced trainer and low-cost combat aircraft. Designed and initially produced by Hawker Siddeley and later British Aerospace and BAE Systems. It first flew on August 21, 1974, entering service in April 1976 with the RAF, replacing the Folland Gnat and Hawker Hunter. The Hawk serves in several countries and is manufactured under license in India. The T-45 Goshawk is a carrier-capable trainer developed from the Hawk 60 for the United States Navy.
It uses a single Rolls-Royce Turbomeca Adour low-bypass turbofan engine. The armament consisted of one 30 mm ADEN cannon in a centreline pod and seven hardpoints to carry up to 3,085 kg (6,800 lb) of stores.
