Hobby Master HA0194 – 1/72 Scale MiG-21MT, Soviet AF
Hobby Master diecast model HA0194 replicates in 1/72 scale the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21MF (NATO reporting name: Fishbed-J), Bort number “Blue 15”. Ex-Soviet Air Force and currently at Dolgoye Ledovo, Russia, dumped in a small compound.

The MiG-21 MT variant had an enlarged fuselage spine to increase fuel capacity, intended for export. It was unstable to fly; only fifteen airframes were completed, none exported.
Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21
The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21 (NATO reporting name: Fishbed) is a Soviet single-seat, single-engine, lightweight supersonic fighter-interceptor. Built-in 20 different variants, it is the most numerous produced supersonic jet fighter of all time. Designed for short duration ground-controlled interception (GCI) missions, the first flight took place on February 15, 1956, entering service in 1959. The two-seat trainers received the NATO reporting name: “Mongol”. The MiG-21s first experienced combat during the 1965 Indian-Pakistan war with the Indian Air Force (IAF). Used widely in Middle East conflicts, and North Vietnam where the MiG-21 faced more advanced US fighters with success during the Vietnam War.
Made under license in Czechoslovakia and India, China reverse engineered the MiG-21 as the Chengdu J-7/F-7. It has served with over 60 countries and remains in service with many, Russian, Israeli and Romanian companies offer avionic and armament upgrades.
Airframe construction is mainly of aluminium, a semi-monocoque fuselage with the engine air intake located in the nose. The cantilevered wing is a low mounted cropped delta with a conventional swept tail. The undercarriage is a retractable tricycle type.
Powered by a single Tumanskiy R25-300 afterburning turbojet engine mounted in the fuselage, the Mig-21 has a maximum speed of 2,175 km/h (1,351 mph), a service ceiling of 17,000 m (55,800 ft) and maximum range of 1,300 km (808 mi).
Armament consists of one internal twin-barrel 23 mm GSh-23 cannon. Five external hard-points, able to carry up to 2,000 kg (4,400 lbs) of stores: one under the fuselage on centerline and two under each wing. Ordnance included air-to-air and air-to-ground missiles, unguided rockets, guided or unguided bombs and drop tanks.
