The 108th Attack Squadron is a training unit of the New York Air National Guard, based at Hancock Field Air National Guard Base. It operates the General Atomics MQ-9 Reaper, an uncrewed aerial vehicle, providing essential training and support for remote-piloted aircraft operations.

Established initially at Hancock Field in 1948 as the 108th Aircraft Control and Warning Squadron, equipped with the AN/CPS-6 radar. The squadron was redesignated as the 108th Attack Squadron and reactivated in October 2014 to take over the training mission from the 138th Attack Squadron.

The General Atomics MQ-9A Reaper is a large, single-engine, multi-mission Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) or drone. A medium-altitude, long-endurance (MALE) platform, with its missions lasting 27-34 hours. It first flew on February 2, 2001 and entered service in May 2007.

A larger, heavier, and more powerful successor to the MQ-1 Predator, used by the U.S. military and allies for long-endurance surveillance, reconnaissance (ISR), and precision strike missions, capable of autonomous or remote control.

The MQ-9A is remotely piloted from a ground station by a pilot and sensor operator.

The MQ-9A uses a single  Honeywell TPE331-10 turboprop mounted in the rear of the fuselage. Eleven external hardpoints can carry up to 1,700 kg (3,800 lb) of stores, including Hellfire missiles and guided bombs.
