Hobby Master HA6625 1/72 Air Power Series
Hobby Master 1/72 Air Power Series HA6625 is a 1/72 scale diecast model of the Eurofighter Typhoon FGR 4, “The MacRobert Fighter”, serial number ZK427 from No.6 Squadron based at RAF Lossiemouth, 2023.
The MacRobert Fighter
The tradition of “The MacRobert Fighter” dates back to World War II, when Lady Rachel MacRobert lost her sons who were serving in the Royal Air Force. Initially, she donated £25,000 for the purchase of a Stirling bomber, which was named “MacRobert’s Reply.” Following the death of her second son in the Middle East, she contributed an additional £20,000 to acquire four Hurricane aircraft, one of which was named “The MacRobert Fighter – Sir Roderick.” Currently, a Typhoon of No. 6 Squadron RAF carry this title.
Eurofighter Typhoon
Until 1998, the Eurofighter Typhoon was named the EF2000. It is a fourth-generation delta and canard-winged single-seat, twin-engine, highly agile multirole fighter produced by Eurofighter Jagdflugzeug GmbH, a consortium of Airbus, BAE Systems, and Leonardo.
The Typhoon’s maiden flight occurred on March 27, 1994, and it entered operational service in 2003. The Typhoon made its combat debut during the military intervention in Libya in 2011 with the Royal Air Force and the Italian Air Force. It serves Austria, Italy, Germany, Spain, and the United Kingdom, as well as Saudi Arabia, Oman, Kuwait, and Qatar in the Middle East, and is still in production.
The Typhoon uses two Eurojet EJ200 axial-flow afterburning turbofan engines, based on the Rolls-Royce XG-40 technology demonstrator.
The armament consists of a single internally mounted cannon and thirteen external hardpoints, each capable of carrying 9,000 kg (19,800 lb) of stores.
