Hobby Master HA5603 1/72 Air Power Series
Hobby Master 1/72 Air Power Series HA5603 replicates in 1/72 scale diecast the MiG-25PD interceptor variant (NATO reporting name: Foxbat E ) of the 1025th Aerial Squadron, Libyan Arab Republic Air Force (LARAF) based at Benin, West Africa, 1981.
Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-25
The MiG-25 (NATO reporting name Foxbat) is a Soviet Union supersonic interceptor and reconnaissance aircraft. The first flight occurred on March 6, 1964, entering service in 1970. It was the last plane designed by Mikhail Gurevich. It is among the highest-flying military aircraft and the second-fastest after the SR-71. The MiG-25 claimed 29 records; seven were world records for time to height and speed, and several still stand. Production ended in 1984 with 1,186 airframes built.
The airframe construction is 80% nickel-steel alloy (stainless steel), 11% aluminium, and 9% titanium. It uses two Tumansky R-15 axial-flow after-burning turbofan engines mounted internally side by side in the rear fuselage. The MiG-25 has no guns but four underwing hardpoints to carry up to six air-to-air missiles.
