64th AGRS, USAF
The 64th Aggressor Squadron is a USAF unit, part of the 57th Adversary Tactics Group, Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, USA. Its mission is to teach adversarial tactics and provide dissimilar air combat training.
It was established as the 64th Pursuit Squadron in January 1941 and assigned to the Middle East in July 1942, during the Vietnam War, deployed to Clark Air Base, the Philippines.
Assigned to the aggressor role in September 1972, redesignated 64th Aggressor Squadron in April 1983 and received the first of their F-16s in 1988.
General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon
The F-16 Fighting Falcon is an American single-engine, single-seat all-weather multi-role jet fighter that first flew on December 8, 1976, entering service in January 1979.
Features of the F-16 include a frameless bubble canopy side-mounted control stick, an ejection seat reclined 30 degrees from vertical and the first use of a relaxed static stability/fly-by-wire flight control system. Block numbers designate upgrades. It serves 25 countries, produced in the USA, Netherlands, Belgium, Turkey, and Korea.
The F-16 uses a single General Electric F110 or Pratt & Whitney F100 after-burning turbofan axial flow jet engine mounted in the fuselage. The armament consists of one cannon. Eleven external hardpoints can carry up to 7,700 kg (17,000 lb) of stores.
General Dynamics aircraft became part of Lockheed in 1993, renamed Lockheed Martin in 1995 after a merger with Martin Marietta.
