JC Wings EW2146002 is a 1/200 scale diecast model of the British Aerospace BAe 146-200A registration EI-JET in Virgin Cityjet livery circa the early 1990s.

Virgin Cityjet

Virgin Cityjet, an Irish Regional airline, was founded in 1992 as Business City Direct. It commenced operations in January 1994 under a franchise agreement with Virgin Atlantic, allowing it to operate as Virgin Cityjet.

The franchise agreement with Virgin Atlantic ended in 1996; the airline continued operations under the CityJet brand. However, since 2017, CityJet has withdrawn from scheduled flights to focus on wet-leasing and charter services.

British Aerospace BAe 146/Avro RJ

The BAe 146 is a British four-engine short-haul airliner designed for short-field operations. It was manufactured by British Aerospace and later by BAE Systems.

The Avro RJ, produced by Avro International Aerospace, is a modernised version of the BAe 146, featuring updated engines and avionics. Production of the Avro RJ began in 1992.

The aircraft was produced in three variants: the -100, -200, and -300, which correspond to the RJ70, RJ85, and RJ100 models, respectively. All variants are available as freighters, designated QT (Quiet Trader), and as convertible passenger-to-freight models, designated QC (Quick Change). Production of the Avro RJ ended in 2001, with 394 airframes built.

The cockpit crew consists of two pilots, and depending on the variant and cabin layout, the passenger cabin can seat up to 112 people.

The BAe 146 is powered by four Lycoming ALF 502R-5 engines, while the Avro RJ uses Honeywell LF 507-1F high-bypass turbofan engines, with two engines mounted on pylons under each wing.
