Short 360
The Short Brothers Short 360, also known as the SD3-60, is a British twin-engine turboprop, short-haul regional airliner. It first flew on June 1, 1981, entering service in November 1982 with Suburban Airlines.
Based on the smaller Short 330 (SD3-30) with a larger, swept single-fin tail assembly on a revised rear fuselage, a 91 cm (36″) fuselage plug, improved aerodynamic and more powerful engines. Built-in several variants, including a freighter and a military variant, the Short C-23B+ Super Sherpa with the twin tail and rear loading ramp of the Sherpa, production ended in 1991 with 165 built.
The airframe is all metal, mainly aluminium alloy. The unpressurised square-sectioned fuselage is of semi-monocoque construction. The brace monoplane wings are a high aspect ratio, shoulder-mounted with a conventional swept single-fin tail assembly. A retractable tricycle undercarriage is used. The flight crew consists of two pilots and seats up to 39 passengers.
It is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PT^ turboprop engines, one under each wing, driving four or six-bladed Hartzell propellers. They give the Short 360 a cruise speed of 330 km/h (210 mph), a service ceiling of 6,100m (20,000 ft) and a range of 1,595 km (991 mi).
