RAF Voyager

The A330 MRTT in RAF service carry the designations Voyager, KC2 or KC3; both use the Rolls-Royce Trent 772B-60 turbofan engine. The Voyager KC2 is configured with a hose and drogue refuelling pod under each wing, primarily for fast jets. The Voyager KC3 has an additional under-fuselage hose and drogue unit, primarily for large aircraft.

Airbus A330 MRTT

The Airbus A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) is a European aircraft based on the A330-200 airliner. It is designed for dual roles as an air-to-air refueler and a strategic airlifter. Its maiden flight occurred on June 15, 2007, and the first delivery was made to the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) in June 2011.

In its air-to-air refuelling role, the A330 MRTT can carry up to 111,000 kg (211,713 lbs) of fuel, giving it the highest fuel capacity among tanker aircraft. Aerial refuelling is accomplished using an Aerial Refuelling Boom System (ARBS), under-wing hose and drogue pods, and a removable Fuselage Refuelling Unit (FRU) equipped with a hose and drogue module.

The crew consists of two pilots and an air refuelling operator. As a strategic airlifter, the A330 MRTT has a maximum payload capacity of 45,000 kg (99,208 lbs) and can accommodate up to 300 passengers or 130 NATO stretchers. The A330 MRTT is powered by two high-bypass axial-flow turbofan engines: Rolls-Royce Trent 700, General Electric CF6, or Pratt & Whitney PW 4000. Each engine is pylon mounted one under each wing.
