JC Wings XX20243
JC Wings XX20243 is a 1/200 scale diecast model of the B737-522 (-22 is Boeing’s customer code for United Airlines) registration N927UA, in United Airlines “Tulip” livery, circa the late 2000s.
United Airlines
United Airlines is the third-largest American airline in the world and operates domestic and international services. It was formed on March 28, 1931, by United Aircraft and Transport Corporation (UATC) as a holding company for its airline subsidiaries. UATC was a merger of Boeing Air Transport and Pratt & Whitney.
Independent carriers run regional routes under the United Express brand. In October 2010, UAL changed its name to United Continental Holdings and merged with Continental Airlines in 2011.
The Boeing 737 Classic series, comprising the 737-300, 737-400, and 737-500 models, is an American short- to medium-range twin-engine narrow-body airliner. It is the second generation of the 737 family. The 737-300 variant made its first flight on February 24, 1984, and entered service with USAir in November of the same year.
The 737-400 had its maiden flight on February 19, 1988, and began operations with Piedmont Airlines in September. This variant features a fuselage 3.05 meters (10 feet) longer than that of the 737-300 and an increased Maximum Take-Off Weight (MTOW).
The 737-500 variant, which has a fuselage 2.4 meters (7.9 feet) shorter than that of the 737-300, first flew on June 30, 1989, and entered service with Southwest Airlines in February 1990.
Production of all three variants concluded in 2000, with a total of 1,988 airframes built.
The cockpit crew consists of two pilots. Depending on the variant and seating arrangement, the passenger cabin can accommodate 126 in two classes or 145 in one class. Two CFM56 axial-flow high-bypass turbofan engines power the 737 Classic series, pylon-mounted one under each wing.
