Saudia’s 75th Anniversary
To mark Saudia’s 75th Anniversary in 2021, one of their B787-9s and a B777-300ER received celebratory liveries. The B787-9 registration HZ-ARE features the Golden Leadership tail livery, which showcases the faces of three Saudi Royal Family members. The B777-300ER registration HZ-AK28 has a retro 1970-1980 livery with “75th Anniversary” titles.
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is an American wide-body, twin-engine long-haul jet airliner. The maiden flight occurred on December 15, 2009, and entered service with All Nippon Airways on October 26, 2011. The stretched 787-9 first flew in September 2013 and started service with All Nippon Airways on August 7, 2014.
It is the first airliner constructed mainly of composite materials (50% composite, 20% aluminium, and titanium and steel by Weight). However, the aircraft had several problems with its lithium-ion batteries in early service, including fires.
The Cockpit crew consists of two pilots. Depending on the variant, the passenger cabin seats 242 to 335 passengers in a typical three-class layout. The Dreamliner uses two General Electric GEnx-1B or Rolls-Royce Trent 1000 high-bypass turbofan engines, with one pod-mounted under each wing, each with noise-reducing serrated-edge (chevron) nacelles.
