Gemini Jets Gemini200 G2COA1038 is a 1/200 scale diecast model of the de Havilland Canada DHC-6-300 Twin Otter, registration N24RM operated by Rocky Mountian Airways in Continental Express livery, circa the 1980s.
Continental Express
Continental Express, a subsidiary of Continental Airlines, is an independent regional and commuter airline operating services under an agreement with Continental Airlines. Established in 1986 with four airlines owned by Continental: Provincetown-Boston Airlines, Bar Harbor Airlines, Britt Airways and Rocky Mountain Airways. Rocky Mountain Airways merged with Britt Airways in 1991.
The de Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter is a Canadian twin-engine utility aircraft designed for Short Takeoff and Landing (STOL). It first took to the skies on May 20, 1965, and entered service in 1966.
With its excellent STOL capabilities, the Twin Otter can operate from unimproved airstrips and can be customised with wheels, skis, floats, or amphibious floats. The aircraft was produced in three variants by de Havilland Canada: the Series 100 (equipped with two 550 shp PT6A-20 engines), the Series 200 (featuring a lengthened nose and increased baggage capacity), and the Series 300 (powered by two 620 shp PT6A-27A engines). In military service, it is designated as the CC-138 in Canada and the UV-18 in the United States.
Production of the Twin Otter ceased in 1988, with 844 airframes manufactured. However, Viking Air acquired the tooling to produce replacement parts and components. In September 2006, Viking Air announced the Series 400, which features more powerful PT6A-34/35 engines. The first deliveries are scheduled for July 2010.
The flight crew can consist of one or two pilots, and the passenger cabin can accommodate up to 20 passengers or carry 1,842 kg (4,061 lb) of cargo. The aircraft has two P&WC PT6A turboprop engines mounted on the wings.
Pay in 4 is available on qualifying purchases from $30.00 to $1,500.00. Available to PayPal account holders who meet eligibility criteria.
