Air India
Air India is the flag-carrying airline of India and is owned by the Indian Government. Founded as Tata Air Services by J. R. D. Tata of Tata Sons in April 1932, the name changed to Air India, with the company going public in July 1946. The Government acquired 49% of the airline in 1948. Subsidiary airlines are Air India Express and Alliance Air.
The Airbus A330 is a medium—to long-range wide-body twin-engine jet airliner developed alongside the A340. It first flew on November 2, 1992, and the -300 variant entered service with Air Inter on January 17, 1994.
It is produced in three main variants:
A330-300:the initial variant
A330-200: features a fuselage shortened by 4.8 meters (15.74 inches), a larger fin, and extended range capabilities
A330-200F: a freighter
A330 MRTT: a multi-role transport tanker
ACJ330: a corporate jet uses the -200 airframe.
In 2014, Airbus introduced the A330neo (New Engine Option), which is equipped with larger Rolls-Royce Trent 700 engines and features several aerodynamic improvements. This variant is available in two versions:
A330-800: based on the -200
A330-900: based on the -300
The cockpit is operated by a crew of two pilots. Depending on the model, the passenger cabin typically accommodates between 246 and 440, with seating arranged six abreast in business class and eight in economy class, all within a twin-aisle configuration.
The A330 is powered by two Rolls-Royce Trent 700, General Electric CF6, or Pratt & Whitney PW4000 high-bypass turbofan engines, which are pylon-mounted, one under each wing.
