US Airways Express

US Airways Express was the regional brand of US Airways, operated by several subsidiary airlines, including Air Wisconsin, Mesa Airlines, Piedmont Airlines, PSA Airlines, Republic Airways, and SkyWest Airlines. The brand originated in 1967 when Henson Airlines began operating as Allegheny Commuter. It was rebranded as USAir Express in 1989 and then as US Airways Express in 1997. Following the merger of US Airways and American Airlines on October 17, 2015, US Airways Express became American Eagle.

Beechcraft 1900

The Beechcraft 1900 is an American twin-engine regional airliner that first flew on September 3, 1982, and entered service in February 1984. This aircraft found use in various roles, including freighter, corporate transport, and military applications.

Beechcraft developed the 1900 directly from the Super King Air to create a pressurised commuter liner designed to compete with the Swearingen Metro and the British Aerospace Jetstream. The aircraft can operate in all weather conditions from relatively short runways.

The 1900D, introduced in 1991, featured a “stand-up cabin,” allowing most passengers to walk upright. It is one of only two 19-seat airliners with this feature, the other being the British Aerospace Jetstream 31/32. With 439 units built, the 1900D became the most popular model in the series.

In total, Beechcraft built 695 airframes before the then-owner, Raytheon, ceased production in October 2002. The airliner remains in service with numerous airlines.

For airline operations, the cockpit crew consists of two pilots, while the passenger cabin can accommodate up to 19 passengers or carry up to 2,022 kg (4,458 lb) of cargo. It is powered by two Pratt & Whitney Canada PT6A turboprop engines, one mounted on each wing, driving four-bladed Hartzell propellers.
